Hoodman Products

Hoodman USA began making glare reduction hoods for laptops a few years ago. They have expanded their line to include digital cameras and camcorders as well as desktop computers and personal digital assistants (PDA).

I have been using the HCD-1 hoodcap for the Nikon D1 since they were introduced nearly two years ago. The Hoodcap is the replacement for the opaque cap included with the D1 and the semitransparent cap for the D1H & D1X. The Hoodcap protects the LCD monitor from scratches while allowing you to easily view your images.

One of Hoodman's products, the Hoodmag, is a great addition to the Hoodcap and the Hood. It's often difficult to inspect your images on the small screen. Hoodmag provides up to 2X magnification of the screen. Just slip it into the soft bellows of the Hood and you're ready to go.

I also enjoy using the Eclipse hood on my laptop. The Eclipse slips over your laptop's screen for private, glare-free viewing. It folds flat for easy portability. Now downloading and editing images in my car is fast, easy and headache free. Caution: Do not use while driving.  :)

Hoodman products have made working with my digital camera and computer in the field so much easier. Any of these accessories would a great addition to your digital photography arsenal!
