Creating slide shows for online presentations is relatively easy. The Java Applet that we use above is just one of many "effects" available with JavaScripts and Java Applets. These are fun to play with and can be very useful when you display your images. You are free to set the various effects or transitions. Fabio Ciucci's Anfy Applets come with several effects including the Cross Fade applet and Lake effect. Note: Anfy Applets require a license fee for each domain that you use their applets on.

For other scripts, visit Dynamic Drive's web site. They have quite a few free, image slide show scripts available to download.

Keep in mind that most JavaScripts work just fine when viewed in IE5+ and NS6+ browsers. However, they are somewhat limited in older browsers. Keep in mind that if a visitor to your site has Java Scripting turned off in their browser, they will not be able to view the slide show.
